Bumping into my lovely mate @dianafyfe on the way to Birmingham made the journey so much more fun.

Been listening to this on my weekend drive and absolutely loving it.

Whether you are someone who menstruates or not, it's a really important and sometimes infuriating listen.

It still astounds me how little we talk about something that happens to half the population (and this applies to perimenopause/menopause too).

How little medical research is allocated to something affects every aspect of women's lives and how medically we are treated as "little men"... when our physiology is so utterly different... And how this can be really harmful to women.

I consider myself pretty well informed about my cycle and menopause so a lot of this info I already knew but there were still some eye openers... And it's all presented in the really engaging, accessible and thought provoking format that I've come to expect from India Rakusen (can highly recommend her Witch series too)

It will have been 8 weeks on Monday since I last saw this woman irl (or, as it turned out, ever). In my last post I told you all that I was taking a break from posting about business. And I massively appreciate all the lovely comments and messages of support I received. ❤️

Of course I haven't stopped actually working. But it has given me the opportunity to reassess (some of it almost unconsciously) what exactly I want from this Instagram account.

It's been around 5 or 6 years since I started properly promoting Saladbomb Creative on here and the account has evolved massively... Especially when I started using the Postagrid method. I still love how it looks but it has become more and more about what I do rather than who I am.

And I had started to feel constricted by the curated feed (as I never got the hang of posting on the fly even though I know it's possible) hence my on/off approach to posting.

And I am not really sure that's what I want anymore. (Plus tbh all my biz posts get crickets compared to personal stuff)

So I think for now I am going to leave the curated grid to one side and try and post more in real time and from the heart (like this post) about what's actually going on in my life (and some biz stuff, I am sure)

Lots of us friends of Beth's have started using the mantra "what would Beth do" or Be More Beth and she was very much someone who shared from the cuff... She was probably the least curated person I know. So I think she would approve.

I am going to take a break from posting about bus

I am going to take a break from posting about business because I have recently lost one of the most important women in my life.

Our beautiful gorgeous Beth passed away last Thursday evening surrounded by love. The community of incredible people she built around her has been rocked to the core... But ALSO has, I think, found deep comfort in sharing our love for her with each other. I know I have. 💞

I still can't quite actually believe it. She has left a huge hole in our lives and even more so, of course, for her husband and son and immediate family. 💔

But I said at the weekend, that it's like that hole is being filled with an outpouring of our love for her (and each other).

Like Kintsugi, the crack is being filled with gold. ⭐

We should all aspire to leaving this kind of legacy, if I am honest!

Sleep sweetly, my swan sister. 🦢 I will miss you and love you always. ❤️

Recently, I went to a networking event (yes! REAL

Recently, I went to a networking event (yes! REAL people in REAL life!) and I was given a name tag saying “Sally Tyson: Saladbomb”. It inspired a few puzzled questions about the origin of my business name.

“Saladbomb” is a handle I have had so long that I often forget that it's a little bit of a weird combination! But actually that’s part of its advantage… more on that later.

The origin story of Saladbomb has to do with fridge magnets, email addresses, and chat forums!

MANY years ago, my friend Rebecca gave me this cheeky fridge magnet featuring my name. It was SO long ago that the internet had barely been invented yet!

So when I had to create my very first yahoo account, I picked sallyisdabomb@ as my email address. (Don’t try emailing it! It no longer exists!)

God knows why I didn’t just pick my name and some numbers like a normal person. I guess I was young and thought I was being quirky! 😉

As the possibilities of the new fangled internet grew, I joined a few different forums and needed a handle for those. I picked either Salad, as that was another of my nicknames, or, if that was unavailable, I signed up as “Saladbomb”.

And this is when I realised that I had inadvertently made my life MUCH easier.

You see, by combining two very unconnected words, I had created a name that was uncommon (so very rarely unavailable/already registered) and also instantly recognisable.

I started using the name for my business over ten years ago as, quite frankly, I couldn't be bothered to think of a new one!

It was super easy to set up social media, emails, and a website because the name was still available.

And it has had so many positive comments over the years because it stands out and sticks in the mind.

It’s possible to MASSIVELY overthink the naming of your business and you can make it recognisable using lots of other aspects of branding, but looking back I am grateful for how my business name evolved.

You haven’t got to do a total rebrand or overhaul of everything.

All I am inviting you to do is consider taking small steps. One at a time.

Today it might just be as simple as reading this post and opening your eyes to how you could make life better for your audience to access your content.

So proud to have contributed my small part to this incredible event on Saturday (even if I did rock up after most of the hard work had happened on the day!) at @tedxnorthwich

It really was like a well oiled machine… there is such a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure it's a perfectly produced event truly worthy of the TEDx name.

And such a wide variety of talks on some incredibly important issues... Some really interesting perspectives on subjects pretty close to my heart (fertility, sobriety, connection, inclusion, creativity, social change and education)

And it was lovely to chat to some of the Speakers in person after reading their bios and creating the program prior to the event!

I'll be sure to share the talks once editing and approvals are done.

Massive shout out to this absolute queen of a woman, Caroline Hill of @cazskitchen

Business bestie and my first proper client.. cake slinger extraordinaire, queen of comfy pants, denizen of dressie up boxes and "tireless"* community champion. We've had a lot of fun over the years (this photo is from back before either of our businesses were a twinkle in our eyes!)

*Tbh she's not tireless, she's absolutely knackered, but you'd never know it! 💪🏼

She's just told me it's been ten years since she opened Cazs Kitchen, the best little cake shop in the north west and while Cazs does provide the best cake you will ever taste, she does so much more than that.

She dishes out cake and sympathy on a regular basis, was the instigator of the St Johns Rd Xmas party events, has always got some sort of charity collection going on at the shop and is consistently trying to make our community better whether that's for an individual or trying to give the council a kick up the arse. 😉

She's a true community leader and an awesome friend. Hats off to you Caz! 😘😘😘😘
