Health & Homeopathy Magazine
About the Client
Homeopathy UK is a charity dedicated to promoting homeopathy and holistic health through education, advocacy, and research.
One of their key communication tools is Health & Homeopathy magazine, published three times a year in both print and digital formats. The magazine plays a crucial role in raising awareness, encouraging fundraising, and supporting the charity’s mission.

The Problem
When Homeopathy UK approached me, they needed a fresh, modern redesign of Health & Homeopathy magazine while staying within their existing brand guidelines. The previous design lacked cohesion, with layouts that felt outdated and inconsistent.
The magazine needed a more visually engaging structure to improve readability and accessibility—particularly for their older readership, who may have visual impairments. Maintaining a professional yet inviting aesthetic that aligned with Homeopathy UK’s mission was a key priority.
Beyond design challenges, the magazine’s production workflow had experienced some difficulties with workflow and timelines.
With multiple contributors and stakeholders involved in content creation and approvals, there was no streamlined system for tracking progress.
This led to delays, miscommunications, and last-minute changes that impacted deadlines. The charity needed a more efficient way to handle content approvals while ensuring high-quality, on-brand design for every issue.
The Solution
I worked closely with the Marketing & Communications Director and Editor to refresh the magazine’s design, balancing consistency with individuality for each article. Key design improvements included:
-
Establishing a ‘house style’ to create a cohesive visual identity while keeping layouts engaging.
-
Paying close attention to accessibility—ensuring appropriate font sizes, clear typography, and high-contrast colour choices.
-
Optimising layouts to enhance readability and visual appeal without compromising the integrity of Homeopathy UK’s brand.
The Outcome
After the redesign, I continued to provide design services for Health & Homeopathy magazine, ensuring high-quality production and consistent branding across all issues. The introduction of a streamlined workflow resulted in:
-
Faster turnaround times for each issue.
-
Improved content management and approval processes.
-
A more polished, professional, and accessible magazine that resonates with both new and existing supporters.
By developing a structured approach to both design and project management, I helped Homeopathy UK maintain a compelling and cost-effective publication despite increasing production costs. Sadly these costs became overwhelming and the decision was made to end production of H&H Magazine in the summer of 2024.
But I am still proud of the collaborative effort we made on the 6 issues I worked on, which can be viewed on the Homeopathy UK website to this day.

I brought Sally on board to modernise Health & Homeopathy, the supporter magazine of charity Homeopathy UK in 2021. From the outset, Sally understood the purpose of the magazine, bringing it to life in a fresh, modern way and ensuring it had broad appeal.
We had nothing but positive comments about the magazine from both our supporters and the wider sector and it became our most valuable communications tool. Sally’s creativity, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines was second to none and she is an absolute pleasure to work with.
